East Thurrock United are the early pacesetters in the Isthmian Premier League, as their 2-1 victory away to Carshalton Athletic on Monday night put them at the top of the table after winning their first two matches of the season.
Alex Clark put Rocks in front after 20 minutes, from a Mitchell Gilbey cross.
And Clark returned the favour a minute before half-time, when this time it was him crossing for Gilbey who doubled their lead.
Omar Koroma scored Carshalton’s consolation with seven minutes of the match remaining.
On Tuesday night Premier Division newcomers Bowers & Pitsea secured an excellent 4-2 victory away to Brightlingsea Regent.
David Knight put them in front from the penalty spot in the 25th minute before Jordan Barnett equalised on the stroke of half-time to make it 1-1.
Bowers then restored their lead 12 minutes after the restart courtesy of Ben Sartain, before Lewis Manor and Bradley Warner (from a penalty) added to their tally in the 72nd and 83rd minutes.
Romario Dunne added a second for Brightlingsea with 5 minutes left.
Also on Tuesday Hornchurch took on Margate in their first home match of 2019/20, and the honours were shared in a 2-2 draw.
Kadell Daniel put the Kent side in front in the 25th minute, then Chris Dickson levelled for Urchins 8 minutes later.
Daniel restored Margate’s lead on 71 minutes but Lewwis Spence secured a point for the home side six minutes before the end.
