We’ve been playing Moses Brown on our Rising Stars show recently and we caught up with Moses to talk about his music.

Tell us a little bit about your yourself?

I’m a self-taught artist and a renowned capoerist – I have been European champion twice.

Tell us a little bit about capoeira?

Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that combines elements of dance, acrobatics, and music. It was developed in Brazil at the beginning of the 16th century.

When did you first start to develop a passion for music?

My life in music started about 15 years ago – I started as a singer and rapper but I also enjoyed playing piano and solo guitar. After this I started to make my own beats.

The berimbau is now your first instrument – can you tell us about that?

The berimbau is a single-string percussion instrument, a musical bow, from Brazil. Originally from Africa where it receives different names, the berimbau was eventually incorporated into the practice of the Afro-Brazilian martial art capoeira, the berimbau leads the capoeiristas movement in the roda—the faster the berimbau is playing the faster the capoeirista moves in the game.

What music have you recorded and released to date?

I have released a few singles over the last few years – Caracter Wa, Just toi et moi, Right On, Ya Know Me and Rueda. You can find all of these on streaming services such as Spotify.

How would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t heard you?

I would describe my music as a good energy to feed our soul full of lovemaking with love!
