The sounds of the 70’s are back!

Back in the day, the band WHITE PLAINS had a string of hits in the early 1970’s. For a while their lead singer was TONY BURROWS who was also heavily involved with other bands such as EDISON LIGHTHOUSE and BROTHERHOOD OF MAN.

About a year ago one of the original members of WHITE PLAINS, Ray Royal decided to re-launch the band with Mick Rose, and my guest on today’s show, KAREN LEE BURNETTE, who I had the pleasure of interviewing some 8 years ago, has now linked up with, and become the band’s latest lead singer.

If you missed it you can catch up with what Karen told me today just how all this came about, the new recordings now being worked on, and the band’s plans for the future including a forthcoming appearance at the BRENTWOOD THEATRE, later this year: –

To find out more about the band’s forthcoming appearances and listen to some of the music off their new CD go to their website at http://www.whiteplains.online

In the second hour of today’s show we heard about the seemingly impossible question posed to some school children.

The question read, “Janell has 15 marbles. She lost some of them. How many does Janell have now?”

Could you answer that question?

Well one person suggested using the mathematical equation 15 – X, where 15 <= X >= 1. She can’t lose more than she started with, and losing something implies at least 1.

When the issue as raised with the teacher, she was told that it was up to the children to come up with their own answer.

Another teacher said  “I’m a teacher and would love to hear every possible solution to this question.I ask my kids these kind of questions every day and their answers always make me smile, my kids suggest solutions not ‘the only correct answer’ It makes them think about things!

“I would only accept a subtraction answer though.”

Well you know what? I think it’s just daft!

I’ll see you again tomorrow,
Scott
