Pain is not good, a little bit of soreness and irritation from time to time is expected, but new pain isn’t right and we should always address it immediately.

If the pain is starting to impact your day, you may think it will go away, but if it gets worse as the day goes on, it’s definitely needing you to give it some attention. It can be a sign that something more serious might be going on, particularly back pain.

If you ignore it, it can lead to more severe pain.In many cases, mild back  pain will usually go away on its own, doing a few stretches may help, poor posture can also be a cause, so taking up a stretching class like yoga or pilates could help straighten you out.  Or just try sitting up straighter!

Some pain during exercise can be an indication that you’ve pulled a muscle, particularly if you get a sharp pain in your back when you curl forward. One of the most debilitating pains is a lumbar strain. which can leave you immobilised for weeks, and you need to see a doctor to reduce the pain caused by inflammation.

Don’t ignore any pain that’s been going on for longer than 10 days, if you do, it will make healing even more difficult. Sometimes you can wake up in the morning with a certain amount of stiffness, but if you start to wake to with pain, then go and  get it checked out. The longer you leave it, the worse it will get.
