This week it was my great pleasure to interview Sally Mittuch, founder of Natural Spa Supplies. This is a company that operates with the highest regard for the environment, they are the proud winners of the NMTF national eco award.

I had the wonderful experience of visiting Sally in her home and seeing how these products actually work. Her kitchen is spotless and there’s not one piece of plastic in sight! The problem I mostly find, even with environmentally friendly products, is that they all come in plastic packaging. Sally and her team have bypassed the need for plastic completely with paper cardboard or glass packaging. Absolutely everything can be reused or recycled,impressive indeed!

While she was on honeymoon in Morocco in 2007, she came across the use of clay and washing techniques that dated back to prehistoric times, Fascinated by how simple and effective these natural products were, and coupled with a passionate drive to preserve the planet, Natural Spa Supplies was born.

For washing and cleaning surfaces,there are soap nuts, which are a natural product of the soap nut tree. For disinfecting surfaces Sally developed the original British hemp oil soft soap, which has a multitude of uses and can be used on the body too as it’s all natural. For scrubbing, Sally uses the 100% cotton scrubby which is the same as a scouring pads, and for an extra boost ground walnuts added to the soap will clean almost any dirty pan.

We only had time to look around Sally’s kitchen,so I’m hoping to do a follow up and visit her bathroom soon!
