Brentwood, 7.19am: 14°C, overcast clouds

Friday Night Extra 7.6.19 with Mike Aston from Pleshey Retreat House.

Mike was my guest this evening. He told us about the Retreat House, a wonderful place in the Essex countryside only a few miles north of Chelmsford. Here you can stay as an individual or on an organised retreat. There are en-suite individual room. The food is of a high quality. The grounds are beautifully kept. Evelyn Underhill, a well-known spiritual writer, had a strong association with the house. A recent music retreat featured Dave Bilborough and was followed by a concert. More info on www.retreathousepleshey.com 01245 237 251.

He told us about the history of the village, which still has a castle mound and moat.
