Have you bought any eyes drops recently?
Well beware as the price charged at one outlet of Specsavers took inflation to a level possibly experienced only in Zimbabwe or Venezuela.
Cameraman Martyn Chidlow had recently had his eyes checked at the store in Wrexham, North Wales, when he went in to buy the bottle of drops to stop his eyes getting dry.
But he was understandably more than a little surprised when the till showed that the item for which he had expected to pay £9:95 showed up as £4,031,626,711.51.
He had intended to pay by cash but faced with the unexpected charge thought he would have to resort to card payment!
Mr Chidlow said he was relieved that this situation had arisen in Specsavers otherwise he might not have immediately spotted the error.
A spokeswoman for Specsavers said that their in store scanners were very sensitive and had apparently processed the customer’s ID number instead of the product’s barcode.
Well that’s OK then so long as it doesn’t bill his credit card company the wrong amount.
In the second hour, Margaret Mills told us all about an Essex cricketer with a most unusual Welsh sounding name – Hugh Glendwr Palmer Owen – who played for the county between 1882 and 1902.
You can listen again here to what Margaret had to say about this incredible man: –
Right I’m off now and will see you again next week,
