John Baron MP welcomes BBWCVS to help with 2019 Fun Walk

This year’s annual Fun Walk is set for 8 September and again it is kindly being hosted by Barleylands Farm. Last year, the event raised £100,000 for nearly 100 charities – bringing the total raised since its inception in 2002 to £1,064,000. Due to the event’s increasing popularity, the Trustees of The Fun Walk Trust (Charity no 115626) have invited the Basildon, Billericay and Wickford Council for Voluntary Service (BBWCVS) – itself a registered charity – to help organise this year’s event.

Registration forms have now been sent to local charities, schools, community groups and other good causes asking them to register. Letters have also been sent to last year’s and potential new bonus pot sponsors – courtesy of the generosity of local businesses, each participant receives a bonus (which in 2018 added £65 to every £100 raised by participants).

The attached Factsheet explains more.

John said: “We very much welcome the BBWCVS on board, and thank Chris Evans and his team for bringing their expertise to this increasingly popular event. We are excited about the event’s potential and, working together, hope it will now embark on its next phase of expansion to help even more charities and good causes.“

“Invitations and registration forms have been sent out by the BBWCVS. If anyone knows of a good cause or project that could benefit then please get in touch. Our contact details are 01268 294125 and email is funwalk@hotmail.co.uk. Further details are on the Fun Walk website – www.thefunwalktrust.co.uk “

Chris Evans, Chief Officer BBWCVS, said: “We are delighted to be asked to support this popular and fun event. It is great to be working in partnership with local businesses to help grow and invest in the voluntary and community sector locally. Most importantly it will make a big difference to beneficiaries of the charities.”
