Prokit UK Essex Olympian League – Saturday 4th May Round-Up

Anagram Records Trophy

Catholic United retained the Anagram Records Trophy after a comprehensive 5-1 victory over Clapton Community. A brace from Simon Thomas, alongside goals from Callum Mathews, Tom Kearney and Tom Hollingsworth ensured that the Trophy will spend a bit more time in the Catholic United trophy cabinet. Catholic United are also aiming for the Senior League Cup, facing Bishop’s Stortford Swifts in the Final on Tuesday 14th May at Bishop’s Stortford FC.

Premier Division

Premier Division Champions Buckhurst Hill signed off with a 3-2 win at Rayleigh Town. Bailey Moss and Harry Talbot scored for the hosts who end the season in sixth.

Division One

FC Hamlets made a massive claim for the final promotion spot after dishing out a 12-0 hammering to May & Baker E.C. Res. Charlie Heatly lead the charge with six goals; Tyler Sanago-Griffiths and Faron Smith chipped in with two apiece, with Josh Brind and Kayode Okulate also notching. The win gives FC Hamlets a four point advantage over Basildon Town, and they also have a superior goal difference. Basildon Town meanwhile kept themselves in the chase by beating Rayleigh Town Res. 5-1. Levi Harbour’s hat-trick was added to by goals from Keith King and Jamie Miller. Basildon Town have two games left to play, and need to win them both if they want to land that one remaining promotion spot. Christoper Brown scored the Rayleigh Town Res. goal but the defeat suffered here sees them finish in the relegation zone.
