First up tonight I was joined in the studio by new Essex 60s beat cover band, The Swiftbeats. The foursome joined us just ahead of their second gig at Colchester’s Brewhouse, and have many more shows booked for a busy run-up to summer. Tonight they treated us to three excellent live covers of the Beatles, the Monkees and the Searchers, and you’ll have plenty of opportunities to catch them live to hear more – check them out on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram.
Next up it was from the new to the very well established – our most frequent guests, Lady Grey & the Earls, joined us 10 years to the week they first appeared on Curveballs back in 2009! It was also founding member Paul’s last appearance before he moved to Boston, so we were determined to give him a good radio send-off. Alongside Paul choosing the music, we also reminisced about their very first demo, heard about their upcoming musical, Freak Show, which is happening between March 20th-23rd at Chelmsford’s Cramphorn Theatre, & their upcoming gig schedule. The latter includes a set at Dalston’s Rocksteady Bar on April 4th, & you can find out more by staying tuned to their Facebook page – plus hear more tunes on their Soundcloud and Bandcamp!
