Essex Junior Trophy
Ongar Jubilee U21s are through to this season’s Essex Junior Trophy Final after a comprehensice 7-0 win over Notley on Saturday. Aaron Blair was on the score sheet, making it his 41st goal of the season in all competitions. Jack Zielinski and Josh Boxall both bagged braces, a further goal came via an own goal, before Tom Smith wrapped things up with Ongar’s 7th goal with the last kick of the game. Former Olympian League side Harold Hill await them in the Final, to be played on Friday 29th March at Aveley FC.
Premier Division
Kelvedon Hatch leapfrog Harold Wood Athletic into second place after a 3-1 home success. Antony Aylett, Michael Daniels and Chris Neville were the Kelvedon scorers. Catholic United move up to fourth after an Aaron Baldwin brace alongside a Si Thomas effort helped them overcome Sungate 3-2. Reece Clarke and Rory McKenzie supplied the Sungate goals who slip down to eleventh. Rayleigh Town move up to sixth after a 1-0 away win at Hutton thanks to a Bradley Confrey strike.
Division One
Old Chelmsfordians had to play the last twenty minutes of their home game with Title-chasing Snaresbrook without their ‘keeper who was given his marching orders. The OC’s held on to win the game 2-1, with Martin Mixture and Josh Chapman on the score sheet, Tyriquee Solomon provided the Snaresbrook goal.
Division Two
Shoebury Town not only needed to beat Runwell Sports, but also needed to hand them a considerable beating if they wanted to leapfrog them into second place. As it is the 1-0 Shoebury win means that they have now missed out on promotion, with Runwell Sports still having two games to play. Toby currently lead the table but have no more games to play. Runwell Sports can equal Toby’s points tally if they win their last two games, meaning that the Division Two title could end up being won on goal difference. The title is Toby’s though if Runwell don’t get the full quota of points. Rochford Town closed their season with a 3-1 away win at May & Baker E.C. ‘A’. Tyler Akerman, Serkan Cihan and Matthew Pettitt scored the goals, with Rayleigh finishing ninth from tenth. May & Baker’s goal was scored by Abel Okoghenu.
Division Three
Laindon Orient kept their hand in the promotion hunt after handing leaders Westhamians a 3-1 defeat. Sam Lake, Henry Ballard and Jordan Williams scored the goals that keep it interesting in Division Three as a mere five points now seperate the top six. Laindon are fourth after this. Ben Jones scored for the leaders, who lead on goal difference over Wakering Sports, with third-placed Old Southendian Res. only a point further back after they beat Hutton Res. to keep the pressure on. Dave Stubbs (2), Oliver Tatton-Bennett and Thomas Margerison were the marksmen.
