My guest today was NICK BOWN whose Brentwood based company, IXCG Ltd, has been working on cyber security for two decades.
In technological terms that’s eons.
And in that time computer malware has morphed from viruses, worms and trojans, many of which were the work of adolescent pranksters, which whilst very annoying if you were unlucky enough to fall victim, are nowhere near as catastrophic as the kind of “nasties” that abound today, many of which may be state sponsored or the work of professional hacker gangs.
With the growth of devices that can remotely control your TV, fridge, house and garden lights, garage doors, driverless cars et al, our exposure to such risks can only increase.
So what can we do individually to protect ourselves?
Listen here to everything Nick told me today: –
In the second hour of today’s programme we heard how police in Minnesota reacting to reports from concerned citizens of an adult man wearing no coat, but clutching a pillow whilst apparently standing motionless outside in the freezing conditions, discovered that the “man” was actually a cardboard cut out of local millionaire and inventor Mike Lindell, the CEO of the popular MyPillow brand.
Well at least it was a kind thought!
See you again tomorrow,
Scott
