Friday Night Extra 8.2.19 with Eve Rodgers from Christians Against Poverty.

Eve Rodgers told us about the new Brentwood Christians Against Poverty, one of over 300 branches of this organisation across the UK. The national phone line freephone 08003280006. A call here from anyone living in Brentwood will lead to Eve being in touch. She will arrange a home  visit where she will be accompanied by a befriender from a local supporting church. At the meeting Eve will explain how CAP can help plan an essential budget and prioritise bills. Information will be needed to develop a plan to help manage the situation. TV financial expert Martin Lewis is one of many people who have advised the use of CAP for people in debt. Over 1,000 companies within the finance industry have worked with CAP. Eve said that sadly people often approach the organisation about a year later that when the initial problem arises. CAP is open to everyone regardless of their religious beliefs. More information, including videos from those who have been helped, can be found on www.capdebthelp.co.uk.  Eve stayed throughout the show.

Music tonight included a look at the chart this week in 1979. We also went back a decade to hear two tracks from Canned Heat to mark the birthday of the band’s drummer and percussionist, Adolfo de la Parra, born this day in 1946 in Mexico City. Following our visit from Daria and Kaleb from Margaretting school two weeks ago, we had the second instalment of the Baby-shower Bake of Quiz, questions asked of children and parents at the school. Patrick Hunt was again our winner. Eve in the studio did not do quite so well. The final instalment next week.
