Happy New Year!!
Yes it’s the time when all those resolutions come to the forefront of our minds and yet again we decide to lose weight, exercise more, give up our bad habits, most of which we forget about after a few days.
The important thing to remember is that any change needs to be pleasurable. We need to be enjoying the process of change, maybe not every second, but overall we need to be feeling good about whatever it is we’ve chosen to do and see that our goals are within reach.
Maybe one of your goals is to eat less sugar, which is seemingly a real problem for us today. Sugar is addictive and recent figures show that the children of today are eating far too much of it, about twice as much or even more than the recommended amounts. It is a real problem as sugar is in so many of the packaged foods that we eat, hidden, as well as in the obvious culprits like fizzy drinks and sweets.
Our children are being brought upon a diet of sugar , the lovely treats are thrust upon us in advertising and are enticingly easy to buy. Our ancestors would have sugar as a treat but we consider ourselves hard done by if we don’t have sugar in our tea or coffee, or have a sweet treat after our dinner in the evening.
Maybe that’s where we can start. Just cutting down on those little extras that we don’t really need, and that, in the long term could be doing us more harm than good.
