Premier Division
Buckhurst Hill go into Christmas back at the top of the Olympian League Premier Division after a 4-0 away win at Leigh Ramblers. Sam Sollosi opened the scoring in the 17th minute but the points were not safe until a late flurry in the closing stages. 84 minutes had been played before Fehinit Falola doubled Buckhurst Hill’s lead. Further shine was added in the final minute when Tyler Dolan added a third; and there was enough time left for Sollosi to close the account with his second of the afternoon. Harold Wood Athletic and Kelvedon Hatch were due to play but that game was postponed which allowed Buckhurst Hill the opportunity to take the leadership. Fourth-placed Bishop’s Stortford Swifts could have gone up to second had they beaten Springfield. Gavin Cockman and Danny Morgan certainly did their bit, but Springfield went on to win the game 3-2. Catholic United are moving further away from the relegation mire and they showed no mercy to bottom-placed Manford Way. A 4-0 half-time lead ended up with a 9-0 win at the final whistle. Tony Jacobs bagged a hat-trick; braces were snared by Aaron Baldwin and Jamie Solomon; solitary goals were added by Brad Vaughan and Tom Hollingsworth. Sungate are one place above the drop zone after a 3-0 home reverse at the hands of Rayleigh Town. Bailey Moss scored twice, with Max Jones the other scorer.
Division One
Shenfield AFC move up to second after a 1-0 home win over Frenford Res. Jordan Elliott supplied the goal that sees his team enter the New Year period in the promotion pack. May & Baker E.C. Res. earned the plaudits of Galleywood manager Mark O’Sullivan who said they never gave up. However his charges went on to score ten times without reply, with Matthew Buckingham leading the scoring with four goals. Harry Bond also notched a hat-trick with Lewis Rose, Adam Dowsett and Sean Lander completing the rout against the bottom club.
Division Two
Chingford Athletic’s 5-1 win over Beacon Hill Rovers may have only moved them up one place to sixth, but the three points posts keeps their name in the frame as the Division Two promotion race goes into the New Year looking very compact with only six points separating the top seven. Eric Kelly came off the subs bench to score twice for Chingford with the other goals being claimed by Alex Petrache, Will Gleeson and Gary Murray. Charlie Brewer notched the Beacon Hill Rovers goal and his side slip a place down to seventh due to this result. Harold Wood Athletic are also in the promotion hunt but remain third after a 2-2 draw with Ryan. Derek Hawtin and Perry Robinson scored the Harold Wood goals, but its points dropped as their team are now two points behind Runwell Sports and Toby who occupy the promotion places, separated by goal difference as both have 28 points.
Division Three
Matt Street returned to action after a long layoff and scored one of Roydon’s goals in their 4-2 win at Old Chelmsfordians Res. Charlie Rider went on to score twice with the other Roydon goal being scored by Michael Coppin. Martin Mixture and Lewis Chapman scored for the hosts. Basildon Town Res. were able to turn a 2-0 losing position to a 2-2 draw thanks to Alex Witham and Mark Saunders. Sam Gilmore and Sam Irvine had fired Leigh Town into a winning position before Basildon somehow found a way back.
