This week the subject of our Bygones feature chosen by Margaret Mills, was that of the multi-talented Philemon Holland, who was born and lived for much of his life, in Chelmsford during the mid 1500’s.
Apart from being a teacher and physician, his main claim to fame is related to his work in translating classic works from Latin into English.
