Senior League Cup
FC Hamlets are into the Quarter Finals after a 2-1 win over Leigh Town. Harry Payne scored for the visitors but its FC Hamlets who move onto to a tie with Basildon Town.
Premier Division
Harold Wood Athletic remain top of the table after a 4-2 away win at Rayleigh Town. Lee Newton’s double was added to by Matthew Donovan and Scott Williams. The hosts scored their replies via Jack Long and Damien Siemienczuk. Kelvedon Hatch remain second after an 8-3 success over Leigh Ramblers. Theo Ola and Antony Aylett bagged braces with Dan Gillard and Dan Johnson also chipping in. Jamie Selby-Knight rifled home two goals for Leigh with Ben Munday the other scorer. Buckhurst Hill are up to third after a 9-1 victory at Canning Town. Patrick Damali scored for the hosts but they were blown away by a Suleyman Zuhdu hat-trick; Steve Townsend notched twice with Josh Banfield, Sam Sollosi, Nathan Sollosi and Sonny Shilling also on the score sheet. Bishop’s Stortford Swifts were the only team in the top four that did not pick up a win, instead they were held to a 2-2 draw by Great Baddow that sees them slip down two places to fourth: Mark Robinson and Michael Moore provided the Swifts goals. A Ryan Stillwell brace plus goals from Riley Oliver, Elliott Hemmings, Nick Henesey and Matt Tonkings helped Old Southendian return to winning ways against Springfield. Dave Wareham scored the Springfield consolation in the 6-1 defeat. Sungate slip into the drop zone after a 4-1 reverse against Catholic United who move out of it after this result. Its two league wins on the bounce now for the defending champions who also beat the same opponents by the same score line last weekend in the Senior League Cup. Tom Hollingsworth’s brace was added to by Jamie Salmon and Aaron Baldwin and it means that Catholic United may now be returning to the type of form that saw them march up the divisions and onto the Premier Division title last season. Sungate scored via Jermaine Purchas but are now on a three game losing streak. Manford Way remain bottom and when that is the case sometimes Lady Luck looks the other way, as she did again on Saturday as they had taken the lead via Lee Lashley; Tom Price levelled up before Chris Skingley scored Hutton’s winner in the 88th minute to deny Manford Way even a point.
Division One
Snaresbrook extended their grip on the leadership after a 2-0 win at Galleywood. Scott Hill and Max Catherall supplied the goals. Down at the bottom and Herongate Athletic remain in the relegation zone despite a 2-1 away win at Old Chelmsfordians. Glen Jordan and Ben Warren scored the goals that mean that Herongate are now a mere point behind the teams above them, which includes Old Chelmsfordians. Gareth Williams scored the OC’s goal who are now looking over their shoulders again having won their last two league games. The result on Saturday was a real relegation six-pointer and Herongate by winning that one has really made things tight down at the bottom. May & Baker E.C. Res. are rooted to the bottom of the table though and they lost 5-0 at Frenford Res. on Saturday. The other game in the division between Basildon Town and Shenfield AFC was abandoned due to the pitch becoming unplayable.
Division Two
Toby are level with leaders Runwell Sports after a 4-1 away win at Newham United. Ben Britton (2), David Major and Junior Bammeke were the Toby marksmen and goal difference now separates the top two. Harold Wood Athletic Res. remain third despite a 9-0 hammering at the hands of Lakeside,, with Drew Klessa-Smith being the main threat upfront, going on to claim a double hat-trick; with Luke Quinton, Charlie Ashpole and Harry Hearn also on the score sheet. And Rochford Town lost at Beacon Hill Rovers despite the best intentions of Grant Lye and David Watson; they grabbed the Rochford goals but they went on to lose the game 4-2.
Division Three
Westhamians took their unbeaten league run to ten as a Jamie Reddington brace plus a goal from Ryan Creed helped them beat Roydon 3-0. The win keeps Westhamians top of Division Three, with a four point lead over Laindon Orient who remain in the slipstream after an 8-2 win over third-placed Old Southendian Res. Jason Purewal scored a hat-trick, Harry Ballard added a further two goals, with Jason Warner and Ally Collins rounding up the Laindon scoring. The visitors replied via Tom Margerison and Pete Jelley. Wakering Sports hit five without reply against Old Chelmsfordians Res; Basildon Town Res. also scored five but Hutton Res. were able to score themselves on route to losing 5-3. Basildon’s goals were scored by Alex Shields (2), Ross Jeffrey, Sam Green and Levi Harbone; Hutton’s scorers were Tony Winchelo, Adam Player and Tom Biddiss. Academy Soccer secured a 4-0 away win at White Ensign Res. thanks to a Jake Jones brace. Luis Ruiz and Ben Picton were the other scorers.
