There was no League action this week, but plenty of action in Cups as the Quarter Finals of the Gordon Brasted Memorial Trophy saw three ties being decided. Meanwhile the Peter Butcher Memorial Trophy kicked off with most of the 1^st Round ties being played, with one or two shock results along the way.

Courtney Dash was on fire for St Margaretsbury as he scored four of the goals, two of them from the penalty spot as his side crushed Enfield 6-2. The visitors were handed a 14^th minute lead by Ayo Odukoya. When Chris Gormley increased the lead in the 47^th minute it looked ominous for the hosts. Phillip Lowen handed a life line in the 50^th minute before Dash stepped up to save the day, scoring four goals as the second half progressed. Further polish was then applied when Connor Scully notched in the final minute of the game. Stanway Rovers also had to come from behind to beat Redbridge.  Trailing to a Jack Stevenson goal the hosts then saw Marley Okosi score twice alongside a Jet Hogan goal that saw them run out 3-1 winners.  Walthamstow had no such worries against Leyton Athletic; leading 2-0 at half time courtesy of James Peagram and Matt Brinklow, the game then ended 3-0 as Peagram added another goal in the second period, with James Harkin keeping a clean sheet on route to the Semi Finals.

The Peter Butcher Memorial Trophy is in its inaugural season, with the competition pitting First teams against Reserve teams in several ties. And two Reserve sides were able to toppled teams from the Premier Division. Starting on Friday evening when Woodford Town were gunned down by a Tiptree Jobserve Res. outfit that pulled off a 3-1 away win. Perrie Flatts bagged a brace with Ed Baldry also chipping in; The Woods replied via Bailey Brown. Then on Saturday Grays Athletic Res. knocked out Takeley with a 3-2 result as Robinson Wokomo, Luke Sackey and Joe Waters scored the goals that cancelled out the two goals scored by Josh Sykes. Both Barkingside teams made progress with differing fortunes. The Premier Division team were held to a 2-2 draw with Hullbridge Sports Res. but then won the tie 9-8 on penalties. The Side scorers were Derek Ohalem and Harry Daly, while Hullbridge’s goals were claimed by Perry Dunn and Arnold Achampong. Barkingside Res. meanwhile brushed Sawbridgeworth Town Res. aside with a 5-0 win which included a hat-trick from Carl Patten with Max Owen and Darren Seymour also getting on the score sheet. Clapton made short work of Southend Manor Res. as a Morris DaSilva brace, alongside goals from Giovanni Palmer, Jay Morris, Jacob Kromann and Hadi Habboushi handed them a 6-1 victory. Ryan Wyatt scored the Southend Manor Res. reply. But Southend Manor’s Premier Division team came through their tie with Takeley Res. with a 3-0 win as John-Jo Slater, Aaron Baldwin and Mohamed Kargbo scored the goals in one end with ‘keeper Lewis Catling shutting up shop at the other end. Sporting Bengal United also booked their 2^nd Round berth after a 4-1 win over Saffron Walden Town. The Bloods were handed the lead via a 17^th minute own goal. But Yasir Rashid levelled up in the 56^th minute, then Jason Ngandu handed Bengal the lead in the 75^th minute; victory was cemented in the final ten minutes as Steven Carvell scored twice, the final one of which coming via a half-way line strike,  to see Sporting Bengal United through. Saffron Walden will still have one of their teams in the next round though as their Reserve team beat Redbridge Development 5-1. Braces from Sak Hassan and Harris Onwubiko plus a Saeed Zamehran goal did more than enough to cancel out Harry Makatis who scored for the hosts. The rain was the big winner in the Sawbridgeworth Town v Tower Hamlets game. With 63 minutes played, and with the game delicately poised at 1-1, the rain then caused the pitch to become waterlogged and was therefore abandoned. The game will have to be replayed with the two teams scheduled to face each other again in midweek, this time in the Errington Challenge Cup.
