The NHS is now going to be offering people with Type 2 Diabetes a new calorie controlled diet of just 800 calories per day as part of radical plans to turn the tide on this disease.
Dr Michael Moseley has also written about this diet and has a new book out which is all about the low blood sugar diet. It seems that a carefully supervised diet can radically change your the way your body worjks and relieve the symptoms of this form of diabetes.
It is important to find a solution tothis lifestyle disease which seems to be a modern epidemic. According to latest figures, one in three adults are pre-diabetic, and 4 million of us have the condition itself.
If you are pre diabetic there is a fair chance that you will go on to develop Type 2 Diabetes within 5 years.
This can lead to an increased risk of many different conditions such as going blind, limb amputation, heart attack, kidney failure or dementia.
If you can change your diet, thousands of men and women have already proven it is possible to reverse the symptoms by using the low blood sugar diet.
The diet also leads to dramatic improvements in a range of other medical conditions too from excema to polycystic ovaries. The key, lies in switching to the healthy mediterranean diet which is rich in olive oil and vegetables and very little in the way of starch and sugar.
If you have a lot of weight to lose as well, you could lose up to 33 pounds over the duration of 8 weeks.
This diet does need to be done under medical supervision, but well worth talking to your GP about if you want to make some major lifestyle changes and turn your health around.
