Today more and more people are turning to meditation to helpdeal with the stress of everyday life. But this ancient technique is more than just a way to help cope with the anxieties of life, it can help with a whole range of problems from insomnia to pain to illness.

Mindfulness showed a positive effect on the immune system in an 8 week mindfulness course by HIV patients, which is amazing. The more classes the patients attended the better they fared. Two recent studies have also found that it can also help with back pain,it can give enhanced feelings of wellbeing and aid sleep.

It can also help the cardiovascular system. Meditators were foiunsd to reduce the thickness of the arteries, compared to non-meditators who showed no improvement or a worsening of their condition.

It was also able to help reduce blood pressure and medicastion in a group suffering from hypertension.

Regular meditators required half the number of in and out patient visits.

It may also increase longevity, a study of 80 year olds whom started meditation while in care, not only became happier, but also lived longer than those who didn’t partake.

More uses are constantly being discovered for discovered for meditation, including helping children with learning disabilities and ADHD.

In the face of all this evidence it would seem to be the obvious choice to start meditating now!
