NHS leaders in Basildon and Brentwood are reminding patients they can book GP and nurse appointments in the evenings, at weekends and on bank holidays.

Basildon and Brentwood Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has been working with its 39 practices to provide extra appointments for people registered with them as part of a national requirement.

The extended access is available until 8pm on weekdays with a number of appointments available at weekends and bank holidays.

The service which launched on 1 April 2018 is run by two providers and delivered from a number of Hub Clinics across the patch.

All patients should contact their GP practice in the usual way to request an extended hours appointment.

Extended hours appointments are only available for those who pre-book with non-urgent health problems. It is not a walk-in service.

BBCCG Director of Out of Hospital Services William Guy said: “Some patients who are working or have other daytime commitments may not be aware that they can now book GP and nurse appointments at times they find more convenient. We are pleased to offer these extra appointments which are an example of how we are working to ensure patients in Basildon and Brentwood receive a high level of healthcare.”

The CCG has awarded the local Extended Access contract to two providers – BB Healthcare Solutions and Accountable Care Enterprise Limited.

BB Healthcare Solutions covers GP practices in Basildon, Billericay and Wickford and offers extended access as follows:

6.30pm-8pm Monday to Friday
8am-6pm Saturdays
9am-2pm Sundays

The appointments are offered at Hub Clinics in Basildon, Billericay or Wickford on weekdays, and at Basildon and Wickford or Billericay at the weekends or on public holidays.
Accountable Care Enterprise Limited provide the GP extended access service in Brentwood. The service is located at Brambles Surgery, Greenwich Avenue, just off Geary Drive, Brentwood CM15 9DY at the following times:

6.30pm-8pm Monday to Friday
9am-3pm Saturday
10am-2pm Sunday
