New signing Josh joins sports team and will present big Saturday show

Paul Golder writes for the Brentwood Gazette

We’ve expanded our sports team on Phoenix FM with the addition of new presenter Josh Fowler to Saturday afternoons.

Josh is taking over our main Phoenix sport show from 3pm to 6pm on Saturdays. Former sport show presenter Chris Hood is still involved, anchoring the increasingly-popular Orient Hour show every Sunday evening.

Along with the latest sports news, with a particular emphasis on local sports teams, Josh will be taking regular reports from around the grounds from our correspondents Scott Lanza, John Chubb, Andy Gilson and Mike Jones.

In addition we’ve also got two other specialist football shows going out every Wednesday evening – The West Ham Way, which remains our popular show by a long way thanks to the online following of presenters Dave Walker, Kev Slade and @exwhuemployee, and a new show for Arsenal fans, Ooh To Be A Gooner, presented by Ade and Mark.

And of course we’ve still got the matter of a certain six-times world snooker champion who still presents a regular Monday evening show – with a guarantee of no sport in it!

We’ve been running Brentwood’s local radio station since 1996 – full-time since 2007 – and we’ve currently got our biggest and best sports coverage. It’s great to see that it’s growing all the time. Sport is a fantastic way for us to reach our local community and we’re always open to new ideas for shows.

* Guests coming up on air in the next week include author Helen Callaghan who will be chatting to Steve Robertson, and Paul Finch who will be visiting 50 Shades Of Chay to talk about Icons: Celebrating Legendary Divas.

* There will also be live music in the studio from Vix20, Olivia Jayne and Redux Blue.
