Prokit UK Essex Olympian League – Saturday 18th August Round-Up

Harold Wood Athletic made it two wins from two after they put three past Springfield without reply on Saturday. Matthew Donovan, Robert Whitnell and Scott Williams provided the goals that see them take an early lead at the top of the table. Of course it’s early days yet, and the Premier Division Champions Catholic United don’t start their defence of the title they won last season until next weekend. Buckhurst Hill will provide the opposition and the Division One Champions set about their retun to top flight Olympian football with some aplomb as they beat Old Southendian 6-2. Billy Wells opened the Buckhurst Hill account, then Steve Townsend scored from the penalty spot, with Sonny Shilling and Joe Re adding further goals before Townsend again fired home from the spot and then going on to complete his hat-trick. Nick Henesy and Stu Judd notched the Old Southendian replies. Hutton made a winning return to Premier Division action with a 2-1 win over Bishop’s Stortford Swifts. Chris Rowlett and Kyle Lindzell were the Hutton marksmen with Charles Brown notching the Swifts reply. Kelvedon Hatch beat Great Baddow by the same scoreline with their goals being scored by Mike Daniels and Danny Gillard. Ryan Baxter supplied the Great Baddow consolation. Leigh Ramblers got one over their local rivals Rayleigh Town via a solitary Jack O’Connor goal.
