Friday Night Extra 10.8.18 Friends

With the news that the most streamed TV show in 2018 has been Friends, we had a number of songs about friends. We also had a feature about the career of the Motown legends, The Four Tops. With the anniversary of the Abbey Road iconic photo shoot, there was one a track from the album and a cover version of another.  Emails included Sophie Griffiths and family listening by the pool in Massachusetts and telling us they were going to see the Beach Boys playing live the next day. We tried very hard not to be jealous!

Tonight’s playlist

Eric Clapton – Layla acoustic – winner of a Grammy award

The Rembrandts – I’ll be there for you

Beatles – Here comes the sun – from Abbey Road – requested by Phyl.

ECHO – I’ve got the blues

Will Hoge – Even if it breaks your heart

Jethro Tull – Living in the past – Flutist and lead singer Ian Anderson celebrating his 69th birthday today.

Jason Mraz – Best friend

Righteous Brothers – Unchained melody – Today would have been Bobby Hatfield’s 78th birthday.

Sophie Griffiths – A change is gonna come.

Queen – You’re my best friend

Neil Diamond – Love on the rocks – requested by Patrick

Brentwood School Big Band – Something – the song came from the Abbey Road album.

Coldplay – Every tear drop is a waterfall – requested by Adrian as he loves the music of the band.
James Taylor – You’ve got a friend – for Tom

Waylon Jennings & The Kimberleys – MacArthur Park – a Grammy winning country version that was a USA hit. Played for Sue and Leonard listening in Kentucky and loving this track.

Lisa Harman – It takes a man to cry

Carrie Underwood – Just a dream

Andrew Gold – Thank you for being a friend
