Can you dig it?

I had been hoping to chat with Steve Shepherd of the Brentwood Horticultural Society today but sadly something clearly went awry but hopefully we’ll be able to fix a new date for him to come in and talk to us as we know he has a message for all would-be gardeners in the area to get cracking in growing more produce in one of the Society’s  8 allotments.

In the meantime you can get a wealth of information from the Society’s website https://brentwoodhorticulturalsociety.org.uk/

In the second hour of today’s programme we heard about a growing problem for the tourist industry in Greece – the increasing number of overweight British tourists wanting to take donkey rides when visiting the Greek Islands.

Well now the Greeks have come up with a solution.

They are breeding a new kind of donkey which can carry fatter tourists.

For decades, donkeys on the island of Santorini, which is a popular stop off port for cruise liners, have transported tourists up its hills. But with the increasing number of tourists visiting the island, the donkeys have to make four to five journeys up the 500-plus steps to the capital, Fira town, every day so now locals are starting to breed donkeys with stronger mules.

Now they should be able to literally be able to live off the fat of the land for some years to come!

Right I’ll see you again tomorrow,
Scott
