Georgia and Danny will be running the warm-up, meeting participants and joining in the 10km walk at the events 10th birthday on Saturday 22nd September.

“I was initially very nervous about visiting the Hospice and didn’t know what to expect. But my recent visit changed my whole outlook because there is so much love here” said Georgia, 27, who visited the Hospice this week, meeting patients and staff.

“The charity is close to my heart,” agreed Danny-Lee, whose mum, Gail Finch, worked at the Hospice for 22 years in the Inpatient Unit, within Pemberton Place and also as part of the Occupational Therapy team.

“My grandad passed away after spending only six hours in the Hospice yet the love and care he was shown in such a short amount of time was incredible.”

This year’s theme is trainers and tiaras, much to party girl Georgia’s delight, and will see hundreds of supporters strut down the streets at Romford’s biggest party.

Leyla Clayden, Marketing Manager at the Hospice, said: “It was great to take Georgia and Danny round the Hospice and show them what we do here.

“They both spent time chatting with patients and really got a feel for how important our services are.

“We are thrilled to have them on board for Star Walk’s 10th birthday party and are so grateful for their support.”

The Hospice is celebrating 10 years of Star-Walking by opening the event to men for the first time ever! So straighten your tiaras and get down to the Liberty Centre for a piece of birthday cake in aid of Saint Francis Hospice.

Check-in opens at 9pm with walkers setting off at 10pm. Tickets cost £20 (includes a limited edition 10th birthday t-shirt and medal) with a fundraising target of £120.
