A rock band with a “no guitars” policy? Nelson Can are a Danish trio who certainly make it work – their stripped down sound, heavy on bass riffs and drums echoes the bands who inspire them such as the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the White Stripes and Siouxsie and the Banshees.

Tours with The Black Keys and Royal Blood, adverts for Vespa and Volkswagen and regular appearances on Danish national radio have helped to get their music out to an ever-increasing fanbase.

I caught up with Selina, Maria and Signe just after their amazingly powerful performance on the Laundry Meadows stage to talk about how and why they got together and the joys of writing, recording and touring.
