Prokit UK Essex Olympian League – Saturday 28th April Round-Up

Premier Division

Catholic United are closing in on the Premier Division Title after goals from Brad Vaughan, Brad Williams and Max Kent helped them overcome local rivals Rayleigh Town 3-1. They now sit second, four points behind leaders Frenford with four games left to play. Charlie Liddiard, Joe Stevens and Matthew Game were the Harold Wood Athletic scorers in a 3-1 win over Canning Town who replied via Shaun Farnum. Manford Way beat Basildon United 2-0 which moves them up to 7th, one place above Kelvedon Hatch who beat May & Baker E.C. 3-2 courtesy of goals from George Saunders, Lee Newton and Mike Daniels.

Division One

Buckhurst Hill took a step closer to promotion, as well as landing the Division One title after a 3-2 win over 2nd-placed Great Baddow. A Steve Townsend hat-trick saw them gun down their closest rivals, who scored twice via Dane Nelson but now sit six points behind the leaders after this result. Hutton are still in the promotion hunt after a 5-3 win at Harold Hill. Dan Carpenter bagged a hat-trick with Chris Rowlatt and Josh Bardouleau also chipping in and the result means that Harold Hill are now firmly in relegation trouble and need to get as many points from their remaining games if they want to preserve their Division One status.  Old Chelmsfordians meanwhile took a step close to safety after a 3-2 win over Snaresbrook. The visitors scored their goals via Mitchell Collymore and Drew Barbier.  Ben Carroll scored twice in Shenfield AFC’’s 3-2 win over Newbury Forest. Tommy Oliver scored the other goal with Newbury replying via Bobby Wise and Jason Reynolds-Blanche who also missed a penalty.

Division Two

May & Baker E.C. Res. are now level on points with leaders Herongate Athletic after a 4-3 win at Newham United. Carl Patten bagged a hat-trick with Derek Hawtin scoring the other goal and its now only goal difference that separates the top two. Benfleet are still in the promotion picture and an 8-2 win at Rochford Town sees them still able to achieve that aim. Ben Foord (3), Taylor Lawrence (2), Rob Lacy (2) and Sam Dulieu were the Benfleet marksmen and the result also means that Rochford are now embroiled in relegation woes as the season comes to a finale.

Division Three

Shoebury Town have already secured promotion so were not all guns-blazing at Beacon Hill Rovers; in fact it was the hosts that brought their scoring boots with them as they went on to run out 4-1 winners. Tyson Browning scored twice with Thomas Adams and Adekunle Adeyemi also notching for Beacon Hill. Reece Morley scored twice for Frenford Res. in their 5-0 win over Old Chelmsfordians Res. Andre Hart, Tommy Waymouth and Jamie Webster were the other scorers. Manford Way Res. handed Leytonstone United a 7-0 defeat.
