Prokit UK Essex Olympian League – Saturday 14th April Round-Up

Senior League Cup

Leigh Ramblers booked their first ever Senior League Cup Final appearance after a 2-0 win over Kelvedon Hatch. Seb Allen and Tom Hollingsworth were the marksmen, setting up a showcase Final with Frenford on Tuesday 15th May at Bishop’s Stortford FC.

Premier Division

Frenford maintained their lead on the table after a 5-3 away win at White Ensign. Ashley Taylor-Forbes supplied a hat-trick with Luke Woodward and Danny Driscoll also notching. Springfield had an even better day at the office as they swept aside Canning Town with a 6-0 away victory. Josh White scored twice with the other goals coming via Louis O’Sullivan, Charlie Egelton, Jamie Doyle and Jack Mundy. However Frenford remain six points clear of second-placed Springfield. Catholic United have enough games in hand to make a late surge towards the title – but they failed to post any points on the board this weekend as they lost by the odd goal in seven at Bishop’s Stortford Swifts. Gavin Cockman, Danny Morgan, Charlie Pollard plus an own goal saw Swifts secure a 4-3 win that ended a winless run of six games going into this one. Harold Wood Athletic came away from Manford Way with all the spoils after a 2-1 win.

Division One

The top two both won on Saturday scoring four goals each in the process. Buckhurst Hill travelled into East London to take on FC Hamlets and came away with a 4-1 win courtesy of strikes from Sam Sollosi and Fehinit Falola plus two successful penalties rifled off by Eren Muti and Jose Espinosa. FC Hamlets were able to pull one back via Ashley King. Dane Nelson scored twice for Great Baddow woth Liam Saunders and a Matthew Crick rocket helping the promotion chasers to a 4-2 win. Alex Nicol scored both the Newbury Forest goals. Hutton are also chasing promotion and they had an even better afternoon as they smashed six without reply past Snaresbrook. Chris Rowlatt’s hat-trick was added to by Tom Price, George Nash and Brad Freeman. Galleywood stretched their unbeaten run to five after a battling 1-1 draw with Old Southendian. Craig Skipper scored the goal that now sees Galleywood three points behind Newbury Forest and a point further behind Harold Hill. However both those teams have games in hand so for now Galleywood remain in the relegation zone. Old Southendian’s goal was scored by Elliot Hemmings, but his team’s promotion hopes took a further dent as this draw means they are winless in three and starting to fall away from the chasing pack. Sungate registered a 3-2 away win at Old Chelmsfordians as Conor Maher bagged a hat-trick that moves his side up to 6th.

Division Two

May & Baker E.C. Res took a step closer to promotion after a 5-0 win at Upminster as Carl Patten bagged a hat-trick with Kane Messenger and Darren Seymour scoring one apiece. Upminster remain just above the relegation zone, while Rochford Town remain in it after suffering a 4-0 defeat at Ongar Town. Peter Davies scored twice with Ben Stone and Steve Merrick also putting their names down on the scoresheet. Ramsden Scotia have enough games in hand to make a late season smash and grab for one of the promotion places. They also made sure they posted three points to the board by beating fellow promotion-chasers Benfleet 2-0. Max Corrigan and Ryan Leddra scored the goals.

Division Three

With the top two and bottom two already determined means that the rest of the teams in the division now have little to play for beyond trying to finish as high up the table as possible. Beacon Hill Rovers made a start on that as they beat 3rd-placed Harold Wood Athletic Res. 3-0. Troy Hawthorne, Zack Armstrong and Samuel Winney that moved their team up to 6th. Jack Darby, Jamie Webster, Chris Ifill and Steve Johnson were the Frenford marksmen in a 4-2 win over Roydon. The visitors replied via Mo Benzid and Nadar Benzid.
