Here we are with the first bank holiday of the year – and it’s chucking it down. What a surprise!
So with that in mind I thought I would take a look at someone else’s misfortune. Now I don’t know about you, but for me other people’s disasters are always a lot funnier than ones own – and believe me I’ve had my fair share of those over the years, often much to the merriment of people around me at the time.
Anyway today we reported on the woman preparing to head out on a shopping trip with her family in Okaloosa County, Florida, when she realised she had left her grocery money indoors.
Nothing unusual about that you might say – and you’d be right – but unfortunately when she ran back into the house to get her cash, she failed to engage the handbrake on the car, which promptly rolled backwards into the swimming pool with her husband and daughter still sitting comfortably and belted up in their seats ready for the outing.
So rather than an outing it seems they got a ducking and the car was clearly no longer in any condition to convey the family on their planned trip.
Oh dear!
Staying Stateside we also reported on an auction due to take place at the Mana Contemporary arts centre in New Jersey on the 2nd May. As on that day a life-size sculpture of PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP, in the nude, is going under the hammer.
Sadly this is now the only surviving model out of a total of 5 identical models that toured the US in the weeks leading up to the presidential election.
All the others have been vandalised or destroyed which should presumably add value to the sole survivor which it seems was bought by an unknown fan for $23,000 or £14,800. Auctioneers – JULIAN AUCTION expects bids of between $20 and $30,000 and claims to have already been contacted by interested buyers.
The creator of the statues – activist art group Indecline – told the Washington Post in 2016 that they were made of clay and silicone, and each weighed 80lbs
So there you have it get your bids in on the 2nd May if you don’t want to miss out on your chance to own this piece of history!
See you again tomorrow,
Scott
