Anagram Records Trophy
Catholic United booked another Cup Final appearance, this time in the Anagram Records Trophy, after a 3-0 win was garnered over Wormley Rovers. The Southend-based club are also in the Essex Premier Cup Final and so have a realistic chance of landing two pieces of silverware come the end of the season.
Premier Division
Frenford were held to a 2-2 draw by Bishop’s Stortford Swifts. Lee Samways and Oliver Slater were the Swifts marksmen, while Bradley Nobbs and Lewis Bartrip replied for the Premier Division leaders who now lead the table by nine points after this result. Shaun Farnum notched twice for Canning Town in their 3-2 win over Leigh Ramblers with Rahan Ali providing the other goal. Harold Wood Athletic secured a 2-1 win over Manford Way courtesy of goals from Tom Quinn and Rob Whitnell.
Division One
Arron Rix fired Runwell Sports into a 38th minute lead at Buckhurst Hill on Saturday; but the Division One leaders responded almost straight away with a Fehinti Falola header and then just before the break took the lead when Sam Sollosi hit a shot from outside the box that ended in the bottom corner of the net. Nathan Sollosi extended the lead even further with a shot that crashed into the top corner of the net, then added a second in the 86th minute, with Keaton Moore then side footing home two minutes later to wrap up the victory. Great Baddow are second but were held to a 1-1 draw by Sungate who saw Spencer Pitfield score direct from a corner. The promotion-chasers should have taken heed as the same player had almost scored from a corner moments earlier. Jack Chatterway scored both Galleywood’s goals in a 2-2 draw with Shenfield AFC, but they remain in the drop zone despite the point earned. George Cunningham and Will Marlowe scored the Shenfield replies. Daniel Tesfay, Josh Woodcock and Ryan Barker-Francis were the Snaresbrook scorers in a 3-1 home win over FC Hamlets. The visitors scored their consolation through Ishmael Carter.
Division Two
Toby and Benfleet shared a point apiece after their encounter ended a 1-1 draw. Ryan Morgan put his name down on the Toby score sheet, while Benfleet’s goal was supplied by Brad Camm.
Division Three
Only two games were played in Division Three on Saturday; and in both cases the winning teams had to do it on the road. As it was both Roydon and Harold Wood Athletic Res. did it in some style as they both scored seven times past their hosts. Roydon scored their seven without reply at Debden Sports, while Harold Wood Athletic Res. scored their seven at Leytonstone United with Sam Bissue’s hat trick being added to by strikes from Tom Lamb, Tom Rice, Chris Pope and Darren Wettner. Leytonstone were able to score a consolation through James Medlock to avoid a total whitewash.
