Essex Senior League
FC Romania are now leading the Essex Senior League table and will be looking to remain there at the close of play on Saturday. Having reached the Gordon Brasted Memorial Troophy Final in midweek, Ion Vintila’s men now turn their attention back to league business as they chase that illusive League title. The Wolves are always one of the teams at the top end of the table and now that they are top will take some beating. They can plenty of goals on their day; bad news for Hullbridge Sports who have managed to haul themselves up from the bottom two up to 18th. That still places them in the relegation zone so they too will be scrapping for points for much differing reasons than their hosts.
Great Wakering Rovers are second and also play a team who are not totally clear from relegation woes as we move into the later stages of the campaign. Waltham Forest find themselves winless in five, while the hosts are unbeaten in eight and along the way have beaten Redbridge 7-2 at Oakside, which certainly put a dent in the Motormen’s title challenge whilst putting weight behind theirs.
Redbridge lost 2-0 at home to Basildon United in midweek, making it two home defeats on the bounce. The previous game saw them on the wrong side of a 7-2 score line against Great Wakering Rovers. Having snared a point in the return with Great Wakering means that the Motormen have now dropped to third. They need to turn Oakside back into a fortress once again and welcome a Southend Manor outfit who are also winless in three.
