Senior League Cup
Frenford are into the Semi Finals after coming through a real humdinger against White Ensign. The game ended with Frenford winning 4-3 with George Fairhead, Danny Lock, Danny Driscoll and Bradley Nobbs supplying the goals. They will meet Newham United who caused a shock as they beat Premier Division outfit Springfield 4-2. Jack Mundy and Jamie Doyle scored the Springfield goals but it is the Division Two team that progress to the last four.
Anagram Records Trophy
Catholic United may have been reduced to ten men, but they went on to book their Semi Final place as Max Kent and Dan Trenkel both scored goals that helped their side overcome Sporting Hackney 2-0.
Essex Junior Trophy
Corinthians U21’s made it into the Final after a 2-1 win over Docklands Albion. The last U21 team to win the competition was Barkingside in 2014/15 and Corinthians now have a chance to emulate that achievement on Friday 23rd March at Aveley FC when they meet Sandon Royals.
Premier Division
Basildon Town came back from a goal down before finally registering their second win of the season on Saturday. Ciaran Kelly fired Bishop’s Stortford Swifts into the lead but Dominic Locke equalised just before half time. Second half goals from Sam Marsh and Yan Danso secured the much needed win. However victory had a bitter-sweet taste to it as Leigh Ramblers, who sit one place above them, also registered a win. Goals from Aron Pallett and Henry Talbot gave them a 2-0 lead over May & Baker E.C. However the Premier Division title chasers were able to get back on level terms via Richard Oxby and Henry Osei. Rayleigh were not to be denied though as a Peter Beaumont corner in the last minute ended up going directly into the net, capturing all the points with a 3-2 win. Anthony Aylett, James Burt, Lee Newton and George Saunders all hit the net for Kelvedon Hatch as they beat Leigh Ramblers 4-1 away. The hosts scored their consolation through Harry Haysom.
Division One
Galleywood are fighting for Division One survival and helped their cause immensely by beating leaders Great Baddow 1-0 on Saturday. Craig Skipper supplied the winning goal which sees Galleywood remain in the relegation zone with a deficit to make up, but this win at least closed the gap a little bit. The team above them, Newbury Forest, secured a point at FC Hamlets with Adam Hunt scoring a superb goal via a free kick. John Gilroy was the FC Hamlets scorer in the 1-1 draw. Old Chelmsfordians were gunned down by Shenfield AFC who won the game 4-0. Francis Wright scored a brace with Will Marlowe and Luke Williamson also notching. Hutton are up to third after a 6-1 win over Old Southendian. Matt Price notched two of the goals with the rest coming via Dan Carpenter, Keelan O’Donovan, Tom Price and Chris Rowlett. Ed Gould scored the Old Southendian reply. Jake Clarke provided the goal which gained Sungate a 1-0 win at bottom-placed Runwell Sports.
Division Two
Herongate Athletic were held to a 2-2 draw at Toby. Callum Palmer and Carey Williams scored their goals and they remain nine points clear of May & Baker E.C. Res., although have played three more games. Rayleigh Town Res. are up to third after a 3-2 win over Ryan. Ricky Gill, Ryan Cushway and Tom Preddy were the scorers. Ryan, who remain rooted to the foot of the table after this result, replied through Billy Atim and Daniel Petrov. Sonny Hartman and Ben Foord fired Benfleet into a 2-0 lead over Ongar Town. However the visitors pulled one back in the 78th minute when Lee Perry converted a penalty, but Benfleet went on to win the game 2-1. Ashley Richards scored for Rochford Town but his side were on the wrong end of a 4-1 result at A1 Sports.
Division Three
The top two both won on Saturday; but while one team won quite convincingly, the other had a much tighter affair. Leaders Manford Way had the biggest score of the day, going on to beat Leytonstone United 12-0. The goal tally includes two hat-tricks from Joey Coughlin and Lee Lashley; a brace from Joshua Seal with Lee Hatter, Stephen Judge, Alex Leslie and Sean O’Callaghan also putting their names on the score sheet. Shoebury Town meanwhile won by the odd goal in five against Harold Wood Athletic Res. Sam Newman, Scott Clarke and Dom Binns supplied the Shoebury goals, with Tom Moffett and Perry Robinson provided the Harold Wood strikes. Manford Way Res. lead the table on 46 points and have almost secured promotion. Shoebury Town are second with 38 points and they too look almost home and dry. Leigh Town are still chasing though and they recorded a 6-3 win at home to Roydon which comes in handy. Levi Harbour and Alfie Phillips scored two apiece in the victory; Billy Markham and Brodie Horne snared the other goals. Martin Mixture scored twice for Old Chelmsfordians Res. in their 3-0 win over Debden Sports. Harry Green supplied the other goal. Karl Swanborough also bagged two goals as Beacon Hill Rovers beat White Ensign Res. 3-2. Adekunle Adeyemi was the other Beacon Hill scorer.
