Frenford pulled off a fantastic 3-2 away win at May & Baker E.C. last weekend, which knocked them off their perch, allowing Frenford to fly to the top spot in the Premier Division themselves. The new leaders are on their travels again this weekend, travelling to lowly Canning Town. The hosts have produced a mixed bag of results this term, having failed to beat any of the top sides. Frenford have won their last two, against bottom club Basildon Town, following that up by beating the then Premier Division leaders. It’s hard to see them making it three wins on the spin on Saturday.
White Ensign are on a nine-game unbeaten streak which has moved them up to second. They are two points behind Frenford, have a game in hand and if Frenford slip up they themselves have an opportunity to take the leadership. That means they have to win at Kelvedon Hatch who currently sit ninth, but did beat May & Baker 5-1, which started an unbeaten in three run. They have more than enough about them to upset White Ensign; the visitors will have to be at the best to get a result here – but they are in quite good form themselves so will be up for the challenge.
May & Baker E.C. dropped down to third after losing to Frenford – now they have to pick themselves up with a local trip to Manford Way. The hosts sit mid table but did hold the Dagenham-based outfit to a 2-2 draw in the corresponding fixture. Frenford were humbled at the London Marathon Sports Ground recently; May & Baker will have to on their game if they want to make sure they suffer the same fate.
