Billericay Blog: A Final At Wembley Is Still Possible

🔵⚪️🔵 Billericay Town FC 🔵⚪️🔵

It’s going to be another big week in the history of our club, on Saturday the team achieved a great result in the FA Trophy away to Harrogate. The teams were playing for a Quarter Final place, Harrogate 2nd in the National League North were the best team we have played this season, it was a hard fought game ending 2-2. We are in the FA Trophy QF draw for the first time, the draw is on Monday and the replay v Harrogate is due to be plated Tuesday 6th February.

The team deserve BigBig Support for their achievements this season. Their playing exciting/entertaining football, spread the word, come along witness the changes at the club, this represents a real chance to get to a Wembley final in a major competition.

Last Tuesday night we played Worthing in a league match and although it was a hard fought first half (0-0) on the restart everything changed, 2 goals from Adam Cunnington + 2 from Sam Deering gave the team a well deserved 4-0 win. The victory took us to the top of the league with 6 games in hand, we’ve only conceded 19 goals ensuring we have the best defence from the 2nd Division, all the National Leagues & the equivalent league to ours in non league football. We’ve also scored 67 league goals, compared with the same leagues mentioned only Kettering, Weymouth & Hereford have scored more goals, but they have played more games. (Although we didn’t play a league match Saturday because of the FA Trophy, Dulwich only managed to draw so we remain top with 7 games in hand.)

Saturday 28th January we played Tooting & Mitcham FC it was another good win 6-2 which included a 6th hat trick of the season for Jake Robinson taking his total for the season to 42.

On the 16th January we beat Wingate & Finchley 1-0 in the League Cup QF, it was another tight difficult game played on a very cold night. (We have been drawn at home to Corinthian Casuals in the semi final)

Although the attendance against Worthing was one of our smallest (594) we are still averaging 1177 which is the 3rd best average attendances in the National South, Bostik League, Evostik Premier & Evistik Premier South, only Hereford + Dulwich are higher. Another highlight of the season so far is we have scored in 45 consecutive games.

6th February Home v Harrogate FA Trophy Replay
8th February Home v Romford in the Essex Cup Semi Final (Winner plays Chelmsford in the final)
10th February Away v Met Police league
13th February Home v Lowestoft league
17th February Away v Leiston league

Dan Walker has left the club and joined Dorking, Bricknell/Foley are injured. Yesterday the club announced they had signed on loan to the end of season Callum Butcher who was at Mansfield on loan from Millwall, last season he played 30 times for Millwall.

We have a great club + team playing entertaining/exciting non league football, come along and see for yourself, it would be great to increase our attendances. We have scored 136 goals so far this season.
