Over in France they’ve been going nuts to get their hands on discounted jars of NUTELLA.

So crazy in fact that riot police have had to separate shoppers fighting over the jars.

One woman had her hair pulled, an elderly lady was bashed over the head with a box and somebody else suffered cuts to their hands and one customer suffered a black eye.

A staff member in one store, moving jars on a pallet was attacked by customers who threw themselves at him.

Queues formed from dawn outside supermarkets and then made a beeline for the sweet treat once doors were opened, pushing other customers out of the way, breaking other products and stands in order to get their hands on the discounted goodies.

In at least one case customers descended on the store the night before the promotion started to hide jars in places to prevent others from finding them.

The promotion which started last Thursday and ended yesterday saw the price of 940kg jars reduced from £3.90 to just 86p.

All seems a bit over the top to me!

So far reviews of the book  “Zabiba and the King” have been mixed ranging from  “a fascinating and moving work’, to ‘this book was absolutely horrible’ and ‘buy it as an historical curiosity, not for literary entertainment” and at the bottom end of the scale, “it is a complete trainwreck of a book’.

Other literary works attributed to the same author include “Damned One”, “Get Out Of Here” which included a foreword by his daughter, and “While Begone, Demons.”

Plenty to choose from then!
