This week in 1985 – One of the biggest music festivals in the world begins in Rio de Janeiro, the Rock in Rio, had an audience of 1.5 million people, and included artists like Iron Maiden, The B52’s, Go Go’s, Queen, Rod Stewart, James Taylor and AC/DC, and national Brazilian artists. Both Queen shows were filmed and broadcast throughout Brazil. Each show was watched by nearly 200 million people in over 60 countries
This week in 1986 – The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducts its first members: Little Richard, Chuck Berry, James Brown, Ray Charles, Fats Domino, the Everly Brothers, Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley.
