Essex Senior League Round-Up

Burnham Ramblers 0 Clapton 3
The Tons heaped more misery on Burnham Ramblers as they inflicted their third defeat in a row since the turn of the year and gave themselves a second win in a row in all competitions after victory at Leslie Field. Khadean Campbell opened the scoring for the visitors, when after a mistake in the Ramblers backline, Campbell got onto it, rounded keeper Strizovic and slotted home. The visitors could have added further goals before the break but for Strizovic and the woodwork. However Clapton did double the lead from the spot through Steve Sardinha and then made it three when Greg Akpele burst clear of the defence before slotting home to seal the win for the visitors. It was another bad day at the office for the hosts, who also saw Musson sent off late on too.
Enfield 1893 1 Basildon United 4
Braces from Marcus Bowers and Jack Adlington saw the visiting Bees thump a struggling Enfield at Barrows Farm. Bowers converted a 4th minute penalty before they doubled their lead in the 25th minute as a long throw was flicked on and Adlington headed past Knight. And two minutes before the break it was three when after Knight saw a clearance blocked and Bowers back heeled an effort into the net. Four minutes into the second period it was four when another long throw wasn’t dealt with and Adlington got in front of Thomas to smash past Knight, and although the hosts pulled one back just past the hour mark when Aundre Spencer fired home from twenty yards, the visitors bagged the points.
