Sophie Griffiths joined us in the studio tonight and sang three numbers live. She talked about how she first sung live at Ingatestone C of E Junior school and loved the experience. Encouragement at Secondary school has led her to develop her love of singing. She told us how her father’s love of MOTOWN and soul music had influenced her love of that style of music and she loves singing songs from that genre. Sophie entered the Open Mic UK competition as a duo with a friend and reached the regional final This led to her being approached by ChartHouse studio to join their Artists Development programme She came third in the Quay Junior Talent competition and this led to a decision to enter Essex Factor, where she reached the grand final. She clearly has a bright future. Up-coming gigs are 22nd Jan supporting D’LuXE at Premier Cinemas Romford and performing at SEEA Awards on Sunday 28th at 4pm. Sophie is delighted to be supporting Kids Inspire, singing at a charity curry night on 31st of Jan at India Night in Chelmsford. She is also singing at St. Peter’s church, Hutton at a quiz night on 24th of Feb supporting 7 year old Shiloh, who suffers from Cystic Fibrosis. Other dates to be confirmed. In the second hour we celebrated the career of the Cranburys, remembering the great voice of Dolores O’Riordon. We also remembered singer Peter Sarstedt and actor, Peter Wyngarde, best remembered as Jason King in the TV detective shows. He was said to be the inspiration for Austin Powers.

Keith has a radio career dating back to 1970 on Radio North Sea International, where he was Dave Rogers. I remember listening to him and he was one of the people who inspired me to dream of being on the radio. Who would have thought I would ever work for the same station as a legend such as Keith.
