Prokit UK Essex Olympian League – Saturday 6th January Preview

Prokit UK Essex Olympian League

Only two points separate the top five teams and with leaders May & Baker E.C. not having a fixture means that four teams have the potential to move to the top of the table – with two of those teams scheduled to face each other. Only goal difference separates third-placed Springfield and fourth-placed Frenford but a win for either side could see them in pole position. Springfield needed a late penalty to salvage a point last weekend and will be facing a Frenford team that have won their last three games, with the last one being a 1-0 home win over Springfield.

Harold Wood Athletic travel to Leigh Ramblers on a winning run of three having strung together the results after a 2-1 reverse in the corresponding fixture. For Leigh they go into the game on an unbeaten run that has seen them move up the table. Will they be able to maintain their current form by avoiding defeat at the team where they started it back in November? It’s a game Harold Wood cannot really afford to lose as the title race looks like it will be close one this term so they need to post further points to the board. Catholic United meanwhile will be looking to keep themselves near the top end of the table when they visit struggling local rivals Rayleigh Town. In recent week’s Rayleigh have only won once, a 6-0 romp over fellow strugglers Basildon Town, against five defeats. Whose up for it more will be the defining factor in this one.
