Essex Senior League Round-up

By Peter Dudley

Burnham Ramblers 3 Wadham Lodge 2

A brace from Charlee Hughes saw Ramblers to all three points against Wadham Lodge at Leslie Field. After Sherwin Stanley fired the  Walthamstow visitors in front on 14 minutes, Hughes managed to level for the Essex side just past the half hour mark. And five minutes into the second period Karl Swanborough continued his terrific recent goal scoring form by putting the hosts ahead, only to see Lodge level it up again via Stanley  with twenty minutes remaining. However with three minutes left Hughes popped up to net the winner and see the hosts just two points off the top ten in thirteenth whilst Lodge are one place below and now four points behind their opponents.

Hullbridge Sports 2 Redbridge 3

Two Brian Moses goals saw leaders Redbridge come back from two goals down at the break to net another three points against ten men Hullbridge at Lower Road. The hosts led in the sixth minute when Michael Salako slotted home and five minutes before the break the hosts doubled their lead when Harry Watkins netted superbly from distance. The visitors had a chance to get back into the contest three minutes after the break but saw the visitors penalty saved by Russell Harley, however just four minutes later Moses headed one back for the Motormen to reduce the arrears. And then in the 54th minute Redbridge won another penalty when Charlie Buffin handled on the line, and was subsequently sent off, Moses converted the spot kick to bring his side level. And then just past the hour mark The Motormen netted what proved to be the winner when Liam Thomas converted a corner kick meaning the Oakside outfit now open up a seven point lead at the top whilst Hullbridge remain bottom on goal difference.

Sawbridgeworth Town 3 Barkingside 0

The Robins grabbed only their fifth league games in of the season, seeing off a badly out of form Barkingside at Crofters. Goals from Billy Skinner, Toby Cleaver and the returning Ollie Cleaver capped a decent performance from the hosts, seeing them into 15th spot, whilst for Side it was a seventh straight league defeat, and they now occupy third bottom spot in the division.
