Prokit UK Essex Olympian League
Springfield climbed to the summit last weekend and now lead the table. The defending Champions travel to Frenford who could spring a surprise. The hosts sit fourth and go into the game knowing that a win would keep their sights firmly fixed on the top spot. They could even go to the top of the table should they win it so it’s a real humdinger of a game. Springfield travel well on the road having picked up a great result at then leaders May & Baker E.C. last time they played away. Springfield will not be relinquishing their grip on the lead just yet.
May & Baker E.C. are down to second having suffered minor blip that has seen them lose their last two league games. They need to pick themselves up quickly and meet Bishop’s Stortford Swifts who should p rovide a toigh test. The side from Hertfordshire are only two points behind May & Baker and will be looking to continue the Barking-based team’s losing streak which would of course move them up the table.
Harold Wood Athletic are third and perhaps have the easiest assignement of all the other top three teams. They host an out-of-sorts Basildon Town who have found the step up from Division One to be a wide one. The visitors sit bottom with only a win and a draw from thirteen games. They are starting to be cut adrift and desperately need to get a win from somewhere. It is hard to see them achieving it at Harold Wood who could go top if other results go their way. They have to do their bit by handing Basildon another defeat before they can start thinking in those terms though.
