Billericay Blog: A great first half of the season

A year ago on the 8th December 2016 Glenn Tamplin took over ownership of the club. Since that date there have been amazing changes to the ground, facilities, squad of players and support, I don’t think anyone expected it to happen so quickly.

2017-07-07 10 Billericay Town FC

Since my last blog we have beaten Staines 2-0, Leiston 4-0 and drawn 2-2 with Merstham in the league, Jake Robinson scored his 5th hat trick of the season and Dulwich only lead by 2 points but we have 4 games in hand. Hopefully by Christmas Billericay will be top of the league.

Last Tuesday night although it was disappointing dropping 2 points, the 2 goals scored took the club to 101 (now 103) scored in all competitions so far and we have now scored in 34 consecutive games, a new club record. (Conceded only 13 goals in league) On Saturday it was another great away win at 3rd in the table Staines.

The club equalled their best FA Cup performance, are due to play Havant and Waterlooville (National League South) in the FA Trophy on the 16/12. They have also reached the QF of the League Cup and are due to play Harlow in the QF of the Essex Senior Cup on a date to be arranged before 13/01/18.

There are a number of big league games to be played at home before the end of the year v Met Police 19/12, Thurrock 26/12 and Dulwich 30/12. We are also away in the league v Brightlingsea (weather permitting) on the 12/12 and Burgess Hill on the 23/12.

There have been some big home attendances (3400) for the home cup replay against Leatherhead and currently the club are averaging 1210 in the league, the target is to increase attendances during the rest of the season.

With 103 goals scored so far there has been plenty of excitement and entertainment, Jake Robinson scoring 31, Adam Cunnington 19 and Billy Bricknell 18 and a number of other players contributing to that total. Jamie O’Hara has returned to full training and is expected to be fully fit in a few weeks, he last played as a substitute v Thamesmead in the FA Cup. Billy Bricknell and Kevin Foley are both injured but it is anticipated they will be back playing soon.
