Essex Premier Cup

This weekend sees the 3rd round of the BBC Essex Premier Cup with six Premier Division sides in action. Holders Harold Wood Athletic face a trip to Old Southendian from Division One. It’s a tough assignment for Harold Hill as their opponents sit third in Division One and will be going all-out to spring a surprise. White Ensign face-off against Great Baddow from Division Two, while Catholic United and Frenford both have home ties against Upminster and Harwich & Parkston respectively.

Two Premier Division sides meet Reserve opposition as Manford Way entertain Saffron Walden Town Res., while Kelvedon Hatch travel to Redbridge Res. The Essex Premier Cup is one of those competitions in which it is hard to predict the outcome suffice to say that teams from the Olympian League have a good track record for knocking out Senior teams’ second elevens; therefore Manford Way, who currently sit second in the Premier Division and Kelvedon Hatch, who have won this competition four times, will be looking to turn the tables on their Senior opponents.

Premier Division

Three games are scheduled with the bottom three teams being involved in each one. Basildon Town hold up the rest of the division and they travel to Springfield. Leigh Ramblers are the other team near the bottom in action and they welcome Bishops Stortford Swifts who could end up topping the table if they go on to win the game.
