Billericay Blog: Big Weekend for the Blues

It’s a big FA Cup weekend for Billericay Town FC who are playing away to Leatherhead FC on Sunday 5th November in the FA Cup 1st Round. The club have a great chance to reach the 2nd Round for the first time, it’s anticipated there will be considerable support for the team at Leatherhead on Sunday.

2017-07-07 19 Billericay Town FC

It’s been a good season so far in all cup competitions, last Saturday we beat Tooting 3-1 in the 1st Qualifying Round FA Trophy & will now play Bury Town FC at home in the 2nd Qualifying Round on the 11th November. They have also progressed in the Essex Senior Cup having beaten Southend United 7-3 and are due to play away to Maldon & Tiptree FC in the 2nd Round League Cup on the 8th November.

The success in the cup competitions is impacting upon progress in the league, the team has only played 11 games, on the 21st October they beat Enfield 2-1 and on the 31st October drew 1-1 at Needham Market. We are currently 3rd in the league but have 4 games in hand on our rivals, Dulwich are top 5 points ahead. Providing there are no drawn cup games there are 5 league games planned for November and hopefully we will be able to catch up on the team’s above us. (Needham Market v Billericay FC on the 31/10 was a club record attendance of 607) Billericay Town average Home league attendance in currently 1350 2nd best in the league behind Dulwich, best average Away attendance is held by Billericay at 855.

Joe Elull has left the club and Dean Inman has signed from Maidenhead United FC for a club record fee of £27,600. It’s possible further players will be added to the squad.

There’s still a chance to obtain tickets for Sunday’s fixture at Leatherhead on Sunday. The excitement + entertainment continues, the fitness of the squad is playing a big part in all the games and it’s certainly noticeable in the final stages of matches.

Next home fixture is v Bury Town FC in the FA Trophy on the 11th November followed by v Merstham FC in the league on the 14th November.
