Mental Health Matters on Phoenix FM – Series 2, Episode 1

Welcome to the first extended episode in a new series of Mental Health Matters on Phoenix FM.

It’s a pleasure to be involved in the return of the Mental Health Matters podcast. It has been on hiatus for a little while, but since returning to the station it has been on my mind to get involved with it. It has been a subject I’ve been interested in for a number of years, partly because of my own journey with it and self discovery, but also thanks to all of the people I’ve been grateful to meet who have been involved in the field, studying areas of psychology and working through a lot of the causes and effects.

In this extended first episode I shared conversations which I think have set the tone wonderfully and painted the picture of the topics I’m looking forward to covering over the coming episodes.

Elisavet Tapini

Elisavet Tapini

First of all was Elisavet Tapini, an Existential Integrative Psychologist who has had a long journey of self discovery and academic career, learning about many areas, including sociology, psychotherapy and now also teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. We spoke about her work and covered topics such as comparing working with how we are now, through CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) compared to dealing with roots of issues in the past.

You can find out more about her and her work through her links, such as Regent’s University and UKCP here:

It was also lovely to speak to Colin Wade, a councillor with Brentwood Mind who spoke about his early youth work and his music background and how much day to day work is needed to keep the organisation going.
