Essex Senior League Preview – Saturday 16th September

untitled

This Friday(15th September) sees two local derbies starting the weekend off. Barkingside face-off against local rivals Redbridge, with both sides capable of getting into the top four if they win the game. Meanwhile Tower Hamlets entertain Wadham Lodge. The hosts have managed to get their season up and running by winning their last three league games. Wadham Lodge meanwhile sit bottom of the table but did register their first league win last Saturday against Enfield 1893.

Basildon United currently lead the table and go into Saturday’s game against lowly Enfield 1893 looking to continue their winning run. So far the Bee’s have won six out of six and could be favoured to win this game. Enfield 1893 will have other ideas of course as they require points to move them away from the foot of the table.

Takeley could catapult themselves to the top if Basildon United slip up and they beat Hackney Wick. The Wickers are finding their feet in the Essex Senior League but have shown themselves to be a stiff test and so it won’t be an easy task for the side that currently sit second.

Great Wakering Rovers entertain Ilford in a game that either side could win. Both come into the game having made progress in the BBC Essex Senior Cup in midweek and this is a genuine fifty-fifty affair. On their day Ilford can test their mettle against the top sides, but Great Wakering Rovers have fire power upfront and with home advantage will be looking to post another win to keep them involved in the top end of the table.

FC Romania take a break from league action to concentrate on the FA Cup. The Wolves have reached the 2nd Qualifying Round after recording win over Waltham Forest, Long Melford and Hadley. They entertain Hayes & Yeading United on Sunday. The visitors ply their trade in the Evo-Stik South East and currently sit eleventh. Any kind of result from Ion Vintila’s side would be a great achievement as it would place them into the 3rd Qualifying Round for the first time.
