The Blues took the lead after 24 minutes with a spectacular overhead kick from Cunnington.

Manager Glenn Tamplin made two changes at half time, bringing on Bricknell and Ellull for Cunnington and Evans.

Brightlingsea, who had also won their last three league games, started the second half brighter with Rees denied by diving Julian in the Billericay goal.

Jake Robinson doubled the Blues’ lead on 62 minutes with a fantastic volley from 20 yards.

Billericay continued to press with Bricknell hitting the post and their persistance paid off with Robinson getting his second to make it 3-0 on 84 minutes.

Jermaine Pennant made it 4-0 on 90 minutes with a well-taken free kick to score his first league goal for the club.

Nearly 900 people made it to Blunts Wall Road on a cold Tuesday night, continuing the club’s recent good turnout. Only 117 turned up to the club’s home game on the corresponding Tuesday 12 months ago.
