We learnt today about the problems neighbours of a pensioner in Germany are having with his penchant for playing adult movies at full volume.

When the case came to court the pensioner claimed that the action was not “on the screen” but “LIVE”.

He also told the judge that he couldn’t wear headphones as they prevented him from hearing the doorbell or burglars!

But given what he was up to, would he have gone to answer the door or deal with any intruders anyway, one wonders!

On a rather more savoury subject Margaret Mills returned to tell us all about the wall tiles in All Saints Church in Brightlingsea.

Each tile represents a mariner who drowned in the sea off the immediate coastal area.
