Senior League Cup
The Senior League Cup got underway with Buckhurst Hill making sure of their progress by smashing six without reply past Harold Hill. Josh Banfield bagged a brace with Dawood Ghafer, Liam Foster, Nathan Sollosi and Sam Sollosi also amongst the scorers. Newham United also sailed through after a 5-0 win over Leytonstone United. Richard Boah bagged a brace, as did Yvan Zahi, with Nick Read rounding up the Newham scoring. Runwell Sports also hit the target five times as they knocked out Old Barkabbeyans 5-3.
A1 Sports needed extra time before they could knock out Collier Row. Having scored no goal in normal time the club from Lakeside then hit four without reply to book their second round place. Southend Sports beat Debden Sports 4-1 with Kyle Poxon scoring twice. Jody Moyo and Danny Pallett scored the other Southend Sports goals, with Taylor McLaughlin providing the Debden Sports consolation. Glen Jordan scored both Herongate Athletic’s goals in a 2-1 success at Rochford Town.
Sungate move on after Jake Clarke, Stuart Griffiths and Danny Downer provided goals in their 3-1 success over Upminster. Louis Elwood grabbed the Upminster reply. Ramsden Scotia also won 3-1 as Ryan Leddra (2) and Steve Paoletti notched goals, as did Westhamians who travelled to Shoebury Town and came back with a place in the next round. Tom Pennells scored twice with Kenny Lidiard his accomplice. Dom Binns scored the Shoebury goal. Elliot Hemmings meanwhile fired Old Southendian into Round Two as his goal was the decider in a 1-0 win over Shenfield AFC.
Premier Division
Catholic United have hit the ground running. The Division One runners-up from last season have won both their opening two games that now sees them at the top of the table. On Saturday they beat Frenford 2-1 at The Drive. Bishops Stortford Swifts are second after being held to a 2-2 draw by Basildon Town. Manford Way posted their first win of the season at Kelvedon Hatch. Julian Edwards scored twice in the 3-1 success with Damien Yoxall also chipping in. Bradley Ling scored the Kelvedon goal. White Ensign beat Rayleigh Town 4-0 thanks to goals from Brett Munyard, Gary Ticehurst, Liam Sewell and Lloyd Wilson. Joe Mayer scored twice for Springfield in their 3-0 win over Canning Town. Matt Webb scored the other goal. Richard Oxby finished off a fine move to score one of May & Baker E.C.’s goals on Saturday, but Lee Newton sealed it with and overhead scissor kick. Opponents Leigh Ramblers scored themselves via Seb Allen but lost the game 2-1.
Division One
Snaresbrook opened their campaign with a 4-3 win at local rivals Newbury Forest. Daniel Tesfay scored twice with Harry Brown and George Bacon also notching. Newbury Forest saw their goals scored by 17 year old Armando Quaiarna and 16 year old Tyrone Baker. Hutton also started off their season with a win, overcoming Galleywood 3-2. Dan Carpenter, Brandon Stack and Tom Price scored the Hutton goals with Sam Donn and Frankie Barrett doing likewise for Galleywood.
Division Two
Ongar Town are the early season leaders after making it two wins out of two on Saturday. Danny Sullivan, Lee Perry, Peter Davies, Ross Adams were the scorers with a further goal coming via an own goal, with the end result being a 6-1 win over May & Baker E.C. Res. Frankie Worboyes scored the May & Baker consolation.
Division Three
The two games in Division Three both had similar outcomes, albeit that there were six goals in the Harold Wood Res. v Manford Way Res. encounter. Joe Tungate, Perry Robinson and Jake Hendy scored the Harold Wood goals in the 3-3 draw. Roydon and Hutton Res. also share a point after their game finished 1-1. Nadar Benzid scored the Roydon goal with Carl Dutton providing the Hutton Res. effort.
